| Everyday, kids die from drugs or drug related accidents.
Many lives have been ruined due to their usage. Many have lost brothers,
fathers, mothers, and friends. All of these things could be avoided. Drugs
are foreign substances used in the body to create a “high,” “fix,” or
euphoria. Three drugs very popular among teenagers in this area are
marijuana, crystal meth, and alcohol. Marijuana is a drug that is smoked and is a depression and hallucinogen on the body. It is considered by many to be the “gateway drug,” that is that marijuana usage often leads to more powerful drugs like heroin. Many people believe that marijuana usage is harmless and doesn’t affect the body. They are wrong. The carcinogens in marijuana attack fatty organs like the heart and lungs. Frequent usage also causes memory loss. Marijuana users often become lazy and “deadbeat” and lose interest in school and hobbies. They may lose friends because of it, or suffer in school. Jail time may also be warranted if a user is caught by the police. Now ask yourself, is all this really worth smoking pot. Crystal meth is a popular drug in the Midwest mainly because of the availability of anhydrous. The usage and production of this drug is very dangerous. Many people dire or are badly burned trying to make this complicated drug. Most people don’t realize that most of the ingredients in crystal meth are toxic. Anhydrous is probably the most dangerous, because of the severe chemical burns. Many teenagers have died or lost their sight because of trying to make this drug. Ask yourself, is it worth it? Alcohol is a legal drug if your 21. Its not as dangerous as lets say marijuana or crystal meth until you decide to get in that vehicle. Alcohol can slow down your reaction time by ten to 30 percent. Drinking and driving related accidents is the highest killer in teens. I have two friends in Metamora that are in the hospital right now because of a drinking and driving accident. So ask yourself is it really worth it. As a young marine, it is part of my obligation to stay away from drugs. But more importantly, it is my personnel choice. Nothing good can come out of using drugs, and the time and money wasted on doing drugs could be used more wisely. Think about your future think about the risk, don’t do drugs
